There're different kinds of room heaters. In http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggUMXjBIUpY YouTube video, the doctor shares regarding room heaters, however, it's in Hindi language. One thing that the doctor mentions is that room heaters can also be harmful. The hot hair can lead to crusting in nose and lungs because room heaters lead to dry heat and which can lead to difficulty in breathing. Depending on the room heater, carbon monoxide can also increase in the room which can be very dangerous. Also, dry heat issue reduces with oil heaters and so quality of circulating air is better than with other heaters. The interviewer mentions to keep a bucket or bowl of water in the room in which the room heater is running, to keep ventilation in room running heater, to keep heater on the floor, to get the wiring of heater checked regularly, and to clothe warmly before going to a colder room. Have a nice winter! Best! Shakti Saran

It is bitterly cold in north India. But while you shield yourself against the chill with a heater or hot air blower, be careful about taking certain precautions. Excessive use of blowers can push you towards various allergies, doctors say.

"Whenever possible, one should avoid using hot air blowers, because they dry the surrounding air and can lead to respiratory problems," Sandeep Budhiraj, director of Internal Medicine at Max hospital, told us.

Recently, we got our room heater fixed by an electrician. When mom's student who's very naughty according to mom turned on the switch of the room heater by herself today then it sparked and stopped working. Upon fixing it by ourselves this time, we think that it was due to not properly taping this happened. I'm not saying that independent professionals and small businesses don't have their values because I'm both but when they try to cut costs on critical things then they can start losing customers and when this happens a lot in general then the people can start giving up on them whenever they can easily have the same or even similar option (phone and Internet helping with that) from a larger business. It's possible that the electrician who fixed it tried to save some money by not properly taping the heater when fixing it.
