How to be safe with Botox

Botox is not meant to treat wrinkles only since it can address other problems like cervical dystonia and lazy eye too. It is also used in the treatment of too much sweating under the arms and on the hands. Its first usage was to treat eye problems that were a result of malfunctioning muscles like strabismus, blepharospasm and amblyopia.

However, for cosmetic and beauty purposes, Botox is used for dealing with wrinkles in an effective and safe manner, and it reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles that developed on the face. New conditions that can be treated by Botox are being discovered and researched on a daily basis.   

Potential Side effects of Botox

The cost of Botox can depend on the area to be treated or the patient can buy a vial.  When it comes to side effects, whenever the treatment is used in the right way, then it is effective and safe and the side effects will only be minor. Sometimes the patient can suffer from redness and bruising at the area of injection, however, it will subside soon. When a patient suffers from problems in breathing, speaking and swallowing, then he will have to see the doctor at once. This is because sometimes the muscle may be too relaxed and they will need to get medical attention at once.

Even if Botox should be given as a prescription medicine, surgeons who inject it are not under any regulation. This means that everyone can administer the injection even without any qualification or experience. To be safe, you have to be sure that the Botox is administered by a trained and experienced professional only.

Complications of wrong Botox dosage

Once Botox is administered, it is going to freeze the muscle movement since it blocks neuro transmitters for at least 4 months. This is why treatment has to be given more than once in a year to maintain the effects. Botox has to be administered in the right amount to avoid any dangerous consequences, frozen expressions, muscle drooping and asymmetrical results. When it is administered in the proper way, the side effects are minimized. If the procedure is not repeated, then the muscle starts to function as it should and the ageing process starts once again.
