How to prevent acne

Acne is a type of skin disease and it may cause pimples. The pimples are formed at the place of hair follicles where the skin may have clogged up. The pimples may appear on the shoulders, chest, back, neck and the face. Any person can suffer from acne but it is more common in young adults and teenagers. At least 80 percent of acne cases take place during the adolescence and half of these cases can persist in adulthood as well.

It is not clear what is behind acne. It can be hormone changes like what happens during teenage years or pregnancy. Some people believe in different myths regarding what may be the cause of their acne. Some say it is caused by greasy foods and chocolate while others say that it is because of dirt.   • Do not stay under the sun for too long

To prevent acne, it is good to eat food that has less carbohydrates and sugar. Some treatments can be applied directly on the affected skin like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide and azelaic acid. Retinoids and antibiotics are found in oral and topical medicine which may be used in severe or moderate cases. Some types of birth controls pills may be given to help fight against acne in women.

Aloe Vera is known to treat acne because of its burn relief properties and it may promote healing, it fights off infection and will reduce the scarring as well. The gel from the Aloe Vera plant may be applied on the acne at once. You may also buy Aloe Vera gel at health food stores or use pure Aloe Vera gel without any other added ingredients.
